 Product Qualification Run (PQR)
 New Product Development

LTI Atlanta specializes in the production and converting of  unique, technical and multiple construction materials and  membranes. Due to the fact that each project is custom in  nature, LTI Atlanta has developed a structured procedure to  implement new projects. On certain projects, LTI Atlanta  requires a Product Qualification Run (PQR) prior to any firm  quotation and prior to a full production run. This qualification  run allows the cusomer to evaluate actual production  samples, confirm conformance requirements , measure the  performance of materials and define tolerance levels. The run  also allows LTI Atlanta to become familiar with the unique  properties of specialized materials, tolerances and customer  requirements. The PQR process does not guarantee exact  results, however, it is a process to identify potential quality or  production issues, set attainable tolerances, assist in the  estimation of set-up or production times and to provide the  customer with viable samples for their testing.

The PQR Procedure is as follows:

  1. Identify the purpose of the component.(I.E. seal components, filter   out moisture, oleophobic, prevent  noise, act as an adhesive ring to   hold other components together, verify coating and lamination   processes , etc.)
  2. Identify and specify materials and equipment  required to   complete  the project. LTI Atlanta may assist  in the identification of   materials,  however, the ultimate decision and testing is the   responsibility of the  customer. All of the quality measurement   requirements and special  packaging requirements must also   be identified at this stage of the  process.
  3. The customer will be required to issue a written  Purchase Order   for the PQR production. The P.O. will need to include:
•A drawing/print of the component, specifying all of the dimensions     and the tolerances desired.
•Tooling costs to convert the parts.(On hand tooling may be      available)
•Material costs to produce the sample parts.
*Note: Many special materials have minimum quantity  purchase    requirements. LTI Atlanta will try to obtain  small quantities of    materials for PQR testing, however, if  minimums must be met, it wil    be the customers  responsibility to purchase the materials in the    specified  quantities. many materials also require slitting. These    costs  would be added to the material pricing.
   •
Converting costs- based on a PQR estimate LTI Atlanta must bill    some converting time on each project becuse we utilize our    equipment and personnel to convert
•A deposit for the tooling and material costs may be required upon    submission of the purchase order.
  4. Following a PQR run:
•LTI Atlanta will complete a New Project Form outlining the results    of the test run and any production issues
•The customer will complete a New Project Form outlining their    request for changes or request for a second production run    quotation.
•LTI Atlanta develops an internal spec. sheet, production diagram,    measurement form and quality audit based on the positive results    of  the PQR run.

Technical support is always available to you during this process to   ensure that we meet your requirements and we uphold our   commitment to quality.
